Research continues to support home languages as essential elements that support academic success for students. Bilingual books help to build a bridge between students’ home languages and the languages spoken in the school setting. Parents can use bilingual books to encourage their children to speak multiple languages while fostering cultural appreciation. Bilingual books can also help the students to develop an appreciation for their home languages. The Fox C-6 Bilingual Book Program gives parents the opportunity to read books at home with their children. Parents who are interested in reading at home with their children can contact their child’s ELL teacher or respond with an email here. Books will be sent home via backpack mail. The Bilingual Book Program offers books in many languages. If we have your language we would be happy to start sending the books home!
We recently started using XtraMath with students. It is a free program that they can do on a computer or mobile device. The lessons are really fast. They can do them in 5 minutes or less. The program is individualized and they move through at their own pace. It's basic math practice. It starts with addition and subtraction, and they work their way up. Students can access it in German, Greek, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Portuguese, and Russian!!!
